ACTIVE BILL WATCH

HB 1034 Age Discrimination: We have permission from the author to amend in order to include an exemption to permit IU and Purdue to continue our policies of mandatory retirement age for senior administrators.

HB 1107 Cultural Competence by Teachers: We testified in committee and have made suggestions to the author for revisions.

HB 1246 Dual Credit: In addtion to working closely with the bill author, we testified in committee. We expect to continue to work further with the author and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (IHCE) throughout the session.

HB 1249 Tuition Exemption for Purple Heart Recipients: We are working with the author to ensure that the state will be responsible for funding the program rather than the universities' being responsible for the waived tuition.

HB 1280 Requiring LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification for Facilities Construction: We testified on the bill this week and revisions are under consideration.

HB 1310 Requiring Faculty Representation on University Boards of Trustees: Similar bills have been introduced previously and have failed.
